Membership

Any person or other legal entity which agrees to be bound by the core values of the Institute of  Insurance Claims Professionals (“Institute”) and in the opinion of the Committee, is sufficiently connected with, or interested in, general insurance claims shall be eligible for membership.

Member

A person shall be eligible for Membership if that person

  1. has been practising full time or its equivalent in the claims process for a minimum of five (1) years full time equivalent; and
  2. the Committee is satisfied that the person is committed to conducting themselves in a manner compliant with the IICP charter and, in the opinion of the Committee, is sufficiently connected with general insurance claims and or general insurance.

Members

  • Receive a membership certificate from the Institute.

Affiliate

A person shall be eligible for elevation to the class of Affiliate Membership when that person

  1. has been practising full time or its equivalent in the claims process for a minimum of five (5) years full time equivalent; and
  2. the Committee is satisfied that the person holds qualifications that, in the opinion of the Committee, is sufficiently connected with general insurance claims and or general insurance.

Affiliate Members

  • May use post nominal “IICP (Aff)”;
  • May state on business cards and letterhead “Affiliate member of IICP”;
  • Receive a membership certificate from the Institute.

Associate

A person shall be eligible for elevation to the class of Associate Membership when that person

  1. holds at least a Diploma in a business or insurance, insurance claim related field or such other qualification the standard of which the Committee is satisfied is not less than the foregoing requirements; and
  2. has served as an Affiliate member of the Institute for a minimum period of twelve (12) months; and
  3. has worked for a minimum of five (5) full time equivalent years in an area of general insurance claims.
  4. Has not been disqualified from holding membership from the International Institute of Claims Professionals.
  5. Has not be disqualified by any regulatory body from acting in any area of general insurance.
  6. Agrees to be bound by the ethical standards set by the Institute’s Ethical Standards Committee.
  7. Meets a minimum of 15 hours of continuous professional development each and every year.

Associate Members

  • Receive a membership certificate from the Institute;
  • May use the post nominal “AIICP”;
  • Are eligible to vote in general matters concerning the Institute and hold positions on a Committee or the Board.

Fellow

A person shall be eligible for elevation to the class of Fellow Membership when the person:

  1. has served as an Associate member of the Institute for a minimum period of five (5) years; and
  2. has been actively working in any area of general insurance claims for a minimum period of ten (10) years or the full time equivalent.
  3. Has not been disqualified from holding membership from the Institute.
  4. Has not be disqualified by any regulatory body from acting in any area of general insurance.
  5. Agrees to be bound by the ethical standards set by the Institute’s Ethical Standards Committee.
  6. Meets a minimum of 25 hours of continuous professional development each and every year.

Fellow Members

  • Receive a membership certificate from the Institute;
  • May use the post nominal “FIICP”;
  • Are eligible to vote in general matters concerning the Institute and hold positions on a Committee or the Board.

Life

The Committee may in its absolute discretion elevate as a Life member a person who:

  1. Has preferably served a minimum period of 10 years on a Committee of the International Institute of Claims Professionals;
  2. Has preferably served a minimum period of 5 years on the Board of the International Institute of Claims Professional;
  3. Has made an outstanding contribution to the growth and development of the Institute at all levels;
  4. Has not been disqualified from holding membership from the International Institute of Claims Professionals.
  5. Has not be disqualified by any regulatory body from acting in any area of general insurance.
  6. Agrees to be bound by the ethical standards set by the Institute’s Ethical Standards Committee; and
  7. Has the unanimous approval of the Board.

The admission to Life Membership will be limited to a maximum of one person each year.

Life Members

  • Receive a certificate from the Institute; and
  • Pay no subscription
